 "Announcing a FWWG first -- a Mini-Workshop Series"
from Margaret Humphries

About twice a year, we will offer a mini-workshop. These will be held on Saturdays from 10:00a to 3:00p, and will be on a variety of subjects, including weave structures and how to read some of those strange looking drafts you find in books. Guild members will have input into additional topics. The miniseries this year is designed for beginning and intermediate weavers. Instructors will be our local geniuses. If there is a topic you would like covered in a mini-workshop, send me an e-mail, and we'll start working on it.

Dyeing Without a Dyepot: Disperse Dyes
Dyepots are not needed to produce colored fabrics!  Through the magical process of transfer printing, disperse dyes migrate from a piece of paper into the fabric to produce luscious colors on versatile synthetic fabrics.  Disperse dyes will be combined with transfer crayons, printing, painting, stenciling, stamping, foiling, stitching, resist and collage techniques to produce endless design possibilities. Permanently pleating and dyeing fabric in one step for garments, interior accessories, sculptural forms, quilts and wall hangings will be explored.  Although our experience will be with commercial fabrics, Holly will also include examples of how these methods can be used with handwoven fabrics.
